Netflix has released the trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third Benoit Blanc film from writer-director Rian Johnson, with Daniel Craig back as the famously precise detective.
The preview sets up what Netflix describes as Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet,” and it wastes no time signaling a darker, more gothic tone than the previous entries.

What the trailer shows
Rather than dropping Blanc into another glossy world of privilege, the trailer pivots into religious imagery and small-town dread. The central mystery is framed as a “perfectly impossible crime” tied to a church with a “dark history.”
One of the biggest new wrinkles: Blanc isn’t working alone. The trailer and Netflix’s official logline indicate he teams up with an “earnest young priest” to investigate the case—an unusual partner for a whodunit that’s being positioned as something that goes beyond “normal police work.”
The cast, stacked (as usual)
Like Knives Out and Glass Onion before it, Wake Up Dead Man is built around an ensemble of recognizable names surrounding Blanc’s investigation.
Netflix lists the starring lineup with Craig alongside Josh O’Connor and Glenn Close, while broader cast reporting includes Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
Release plan
Netflix is giving the film a theatrical runway before it hits streaming. According to Netflix and major trade reporting on the trailer, Wake Up Dead Man opens in select theaters on November 26, 2025, then begins streaming on Netflix on December 12, 2025.
