South Korean mini-series “The Fiery Priest” was a major hit for SBS, and it was among the top-rated shows in 2019. Almost 2 years have passed since its premiere, which might mean that we will never get to see The Fiery Priest Season 2. But with the sudden rise in South Korean shows, we might get to hear good news about the renewal of the sequel.
The lead of the show Kim Nam-Gil won many prestigious awards for his phenomenal role as the priest with peculiar manager management issues. The show has bits and pieces of other popular TV series too. Namely from; Mr. Sunshine, Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, The Matrix, Reply 1988, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, The Scream painting, etc.
The story revolves around an EX NIS agent turned priest who tries his best to avenge the death of an elderly priest. Rather than the theme of the show being dark and grim, it is quite the opposite. The journey of finding the culprits is then explored in the rest of the episodes. The plot gets more interesting when Kim Nam-Gil conflicts with Lee Ha-nee (the corrupt prosecutor).
The action-comedy series still has a very active fandom that constantly pushes the writers to continue with the storyline. But considering that the show was a mini-series, there are high chances of the Fiery Priest Season 2 not making the final cut. However, the ratings can always change the show makers’ minds so that you can expect a sequel!Â
The Fiery Priest Season 2 Release Date
The showrunners revealed in an interview that it’d been a long time since they proposed The Fiery Priest Season 2. But until now, they haven’t got the response they require to proceed with the production of the sequel. So, there is no release date for the second season. But most likely, it will release in 2022, only if the shooting begins by the end of 2021.
But prepare yourself for the worst too! Because the show hasn’t been officially greenlit for a second season.Â
The Fiery Priest Season 2 Plot
In the first season’s final episodes, the Team Priest got very close to finding and punishing the murderers. But due to certain events, they couldn’t catch them. However, the good news is that the screen reads, “We will be back at the end of this scene!”. This definitely means that a second season has to be made to explain the cliffhangers of the finale.
The second season’s storyline will entail more adventures of Kim and his gang trying to hunt down the killers of Priest Lee. And obviously, there will be other plot twists too. This is all that we can say about The Fiery Priest Season 2 so far because, unfortunately, the writers haven’t revealed anything!
But shows get cancelled all the time. And this might be the reason why The Fiery Priest Season 2 hasn’t come out yet. Or maybe the delay in the release is because of the pandemic. We’ll update this site as soon as the writers disclose the official plot synopsis, so stay tuned!Â
