Released in 2023, “Past Lives” is a romantic drama film directed and written by Celine Song, marking her first feature film. The movie has received widespread praise from both audiences and critics, holding a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Featuring Teo Yoo, Greta Lee, and John Magaro, it tells the story of Nora and Hae Sung, two childhood friends from South Korea who are separated when Nora’s family immigrates to Canada.
Years later, they reconnect online and meet again as grown-ups in NYC. The film beautifully explores the Korean concept of “In-Yun,” which suggests that people are connected through their past lives. The story is partly based on real events from Celine Song’s own life.
Love Me

“Love Me” is a romantic movie set in a post-apocalyptic world. It was directed and written by the famous Sam and Andy Zuchero, marking their first feature film. The movie stars Kristen Stewart as Me / Deja and Steven Yeun as Iam / Liam. In January 2024, the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and later, in January 2025, it was released in theatres in the U.S. On IMDb, the film has a rating of 5.1/10.
American film critic Peter Debruge described the film in a Variety review as, “a stunningly constructed if overcomplicated sci-fi fable about how humans put unfair expectations on relationships.”
Love In Taipei

Directed by Arvin Chen, “Love in Taipei” is a romantic comedy film that came out in 2023. Featuring Ashley Liao as Ever Young, Ross Butler as Rick Woo, Chelsea Zhang as Sophie Ha, and Nico Hiraga as Xavier Yeh, the film is based on the 2020 novel Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen.
The movie is about a young woman named Ever Young, who is sent to a summer school program in Taipei by her parents, so that she can learn more about her culture and study Mandarin. But the program is called “Loveboat” by the students because it’s more about making new friends, relationships, and having fun, rather than studying. During her time there, she gets stuck between two guys while also trying to follow her passion for dancing. Also, she deals with her parents’ expectations and her own dreams. With a score of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has been praised by critics for its coming-of-age story.
At Midnight

Released in February 2023, “At Midnight” is a romantic comedy film that stars Diego Boneta and Monica Barbaro, who also helped produce the movie. It is directed by Jonah Feingold, who also co-wrote the film with Giovanni M. Porta and Maria Hinojos.
It follows the story of Sophie Wilder, who is in Mexico to shoot her film and is dreaming of getting her own spin-off. While there, she finds out that her boyfriend and co-star, Adam, is cheating on her with someone from the crew. Heartbroken Sophie then meets Alejandro, a hotel manager working where the movie team is staying. As they spend time together, a close bond grows between them. Also, they start to wonder what their relationship could become before time runs out.
The Variety review by Courtney Howard states, “Boneta and Barbaro’s chemistry adds a simmering, sultry sway to the material’s rhythms, gifting it with an uplifting buoyancy. They’re magnetic together, driving our rooting interest for the couple.”
The Wedding Banquet

“The Wedding Banquet” is a romantic comedy directed by Andrew Ahn, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Schamus. Released in 2025, the movie features a talented cast, including Han Gi-chan, Joan Chen, Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Youn Yuh-jung, Bobo Le, and Kelly Marie Tran. Also, it is a remake of the 1993 film of the same name.
The movie follows Angela and her partner, Lee, who have been struggling with failed IVF attempts and can’t afford another round. Their friend Min, whose student visa is about to expire, convinces Angela to enter into a sham marriage with him so he can stay in the US, and in return, he’ll fund Lee’s next fertility treatment. However, the plan gets out of control when Min’s grandmother arrives unexpectedly and insists on hosting a Korean wedding banquet. It holds an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has received positive reviews from critics.
