Paul Rudd, the actor behind Marvel’s diminutive yet mighty superhero Ant-Man, has weighed in on longtime fan questions about whether his character will appear in the next big Avengers movies and while details are still tight-lipped, his comments suggest the door is very much open.

Rudd, who has played Scott Lang/Ant-Man in multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films since his debut in Ant-Man (2015), recently addressed his status with Avengers: Doomsday and beyond. When asked if he’ll be suiting up again as the size-shifting Avenger, Rudd offered a playful but telling response: “As far as the Russos, they have my number. They know where I’m at, and that’s all I can say.” His remark referred to directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who are leading the upcoming Avengers films, and hinted that he is at least on their radar for future appearances.
What Rudd’s comment doesn’t do is confirm his role outright, Marvel Studios is famously secretive about casting and plot details, especially for major tentpoles like Avengers. Actors often aren’t permitted to share anything concrete while films are in active development, and Rudd himself joked about how hard it is to “play these things,” referring to the difficulty of speaking publicly about high-profile projects without spoiling surprises.
Still, the implication that the Russos “have his number” suggests that Marvel hasn’t closed the door on Ant-Man’s return. Scott Lang has been a consistent presence in the MCU, with Rudd’s portrayal stretching from his solo adventures in Ant-Man to key ensemble moments like Avengers: Endgame. More recently, Avengers: Doomsday, officially confirmed to feature Lang in its cast, is set to begin production soon and is anticipated to launch the next blockbuster arc in the Marvel saga before Avengers: Secret Wars.
Ant-Man’s future in the MCU has been a topic of debate among fans and industry watchers. While his solo films, especially Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, received mixed reactions and more modest box office results than some other Marvel projects, the character remains tied to major storylines involving the Multiverse and cosmic threats. His connection to quantum physics, time-manipulation plotlines, and relationships with established heroes give him narrative hooks that could keep him relevant as the franchise evolves.
For Rudd, being part of the MCU has been both a defining and enduring experience. His portrayal of Scott Lang has allowed the actor to explore the lighter, more humorous side of superheroics while still anchoring emotional stakes, especially through his bond with his daughter, Cassie Lang, a dynamic that has carried through several films.
Even with all that context, Marvel’s approach to secrecy means that fans likely won’t get a definitive answer about Ant-Man’s role until official announcements, or possibly until the studio’s tightly controlled trailers drop. Until then, Rudd’s comment that the directors “have my number” offers both reassurance and mystery: he could be coming back, but only Marvel knows for sure how big his part will be.
