Nicolas Cage’s Ex Sues, Claiming Negligence and Enabling Tied to Son Weston Cage

Date:

Christina Fulton, Nicolas Cage’s former partner and the mother of their son Weston Coppola Cage, filed a civil lawsuit in Los Angeles alleging Cage was negligent and “enabled” Weston in the lead-up to a reported 2024 incident.

The complaint drew public responses from Cage’s representatives disputing any responsibility for the conduct of an adult child, and the case later shifted in a key procedural move: Fulton requested that her claims against Cage be dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning they were dropped permanently, while her lawsuit continued against Weston.

What Fulton Alleged

Reporting on the filing says Fulton’s claims against Cage centered on negligence-based theories that included “negligent supervision” and “negligent undertaking.”

In plain terms, Fulton’s position was that Cage allegedly knew about Weston’s long-running personal struggles and still provided support that, in her view, made the situation more concerning rather than less. Outlets summarizing the complaint said those allegations included financial support and other assistance.

Nicolas Cage’s Response

Cage’s attorney publicly rejected the lawsuit, arguing that Cage is not responsible for the actions of his 34-year-old son and does not control his behavior.

Weston’s attorney also criticized the lawsuit in public statements, framing the dispute as tied to a personal crisis and disputing Fulton’s account and motives.

A Major Turn: Nicolas Cage Was Dropped From The Case

The most important update is that Fulton’s claims against Nicolas Cage did not remain active for long.

On March 11, 2025, the Los Angeles County Superior Court granted Fulton’s request to dismiss her claims against Cage “with prejudice,” meaning those claims were dismissed permanently and cannot be refiled in the same form.

Both Entertainment Weekly and the Los Angeles Times reported that the dismissal applied to Cage, while the lawsuit continued against the other defendant(s).

Where Things Stand

After Cage’s dismissal, coverage has consistently described the remaining civil claims as continuing against Weston.

Since then, most major updates in public reporting have focused more on related court proceedings involving Weston rather than a final resolution of the remaining civil case.
