Lady Gaga is officially stepping into the world of Wednesday—and Netflix has now confirmed exactly who she’s playing. At Netflix’s Tudum event, the streamer revealed Gaga will guest star in Season 2 as Rosaline Rotwood, described as a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams.

Who is Rosaline Rotwood?
Netflix’s official character guide fills in the basics: Rotwood—also referred to as Professor Rotwood—was a Nevermore teacher during the 1960s and a powerful Raven with dark psychic abilities. The character is also tied directly to Wednesday’s family lore, having served as Grandmama Hester Frump’s mentor when Hester attended Nevermore.
The guide also sets up the show’s supernatural hook for her presence: Rotwood died under mysterious circumstances and was buried in Nevermore’s cemetery, with a legend suggesting that if a Raven recites the inscription on her headstone, they can gain temporary psychic sight.
How the reveal happened—and when she appears
The announcement landed with peak Gaga pageantry. Entertainment Weekly reported that Gaga closed out Netflix Tudum with a performance event (including a coffin entrance and Wednesday-adjacent musical nods) tied to the reveal of her role.
As for timing: Netflix’s rollout split Season 2 into parts, and EW reported Gaga’s guest appearance is positioned for Part 2. Additional reporting around Part 2 notes her character is presented in a ghostly form, underscoring that Rotwood’s history—and whatever she still “has” to offer Wednesday—comes with eerie consequences.
Netflix has also connected Gaga’s involvement to the season’s music footprint, announcing an original Gaga track, “The Dead Dance,” tied to Part 2’s release window.
