Luis Guzmán says he’s never felt the need to live in Hollywood, because the life he built in Vermont gives him something the industry can’t: a real sense of home. In a recent interview with NBC5 (WPTZ), the actor summed it up simply: “I’m lucky to be here,” adding that he takes pride in telling people he lives in Vermont.

He says Vermont lets him be “Luis,” not a celebrity
Guzmán told NBC5 that in Vermont, he’s just another neighbor, and that the community around him matters more than the attention that can come with his job. He credited the people around him for making the day-to-day feel grounded and normal.
The move wasn’t random; it was years in the making
Entertainment Weekly reports that Guzmán’s connection to Vermont goes back decades, starting with an earlier visit in the 1970s when he was working in social services in New York City. He later made the move permanent in 1995 and settled in Cabot, a small town in northeastern Vermont.
A quieter routine, plus a hands-on lifestyle
Part of the appeal, he’s said, is the space and the pace. EW notes that Guzmán has talked about having a farm property in Vermont and enjoying a rural routine that’s far removed from the entertainment bubble.
Community matters more than headlines
In the same NBC5 reporting referenced by EW, Guzmán also pointed to community involvement as a big reason he values the life he has there, including supporting local efforts after Vermont’s 2023 flooding.
The through-line in his comments is consistent: he’s proud of where he lives, grateful for the people around him, and not chasing the Hollywood version of success.
