Jessica Jones is officially returning to the Marvel fold.
During Disney’s 2025 upfront presentation, Krysten Ritter appeared onstage alongside Charlie Cox to announce she’ll reprise her role as Jessica Jones in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.

What Marvel has confirmed
Marvel’s own announcement frames Ritter’s return as a direct continuation of her earlier work: she first played the character in Netflix’s Jessica Jones (three seasons, 2015–2019) and then in the crossover series The Defenders. Marvel also notes that Season 2 is now in production.
What this means for the show’s “street-level” corner
Daredevil: Born Again has been positioned around the same grounded New York ecosystem as the Netflix-era shows, so bringing Jessica Jones back isn’t just a cameo—it’s a signal that Marvel is willing to pull more of those fan-favorite characters into the current Disney+ run.
In EW’s coverage, showrunner Dario Scardapane suggested that characters from Matt Murdock’s past are naturally on the table for a story shaped by Wilson Fisk’s growing control over the city, where “superheroes” would logically respond.
What Ritter and Cox teased
Onstage, Ritter called it “so great to be back” and said there’s “much more in store” for Jessica. Cox also used the moment to tease a “bold new direction” for the series.
Where things stand right now
If you’re catching up: Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again is streaming on Disney+, and Season 2 is currently being filmed.
