Joshua Jackson is speaking out after losing his Los Angeles home in the wildfires that swept through parts of the region in January. In a statement shared publicly and echoed across multiple outlets, the actor said he feels “incredibly lucky” that he and the people closest to him are safe—even as he grieves the loss of the home itself.
Jackson’s home in Topanga Canyon was destroyed as the Palisades Fire burned through the area. While confirming the damage, he emphasized the outcome he’s most grateful for: “My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely,” he said, adding that while the house didn’t survive, he feels fortunate to be “surrounded by the people I love.”

The property carried deep personal meaning for Jackson. Reporting from PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly noted that the actor repurchased the Topanga home years ago and had spoken about the emotional connection he felt to the space—especially after becoming a father.
Jackson shares daughter Juno with ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith, and he has described building a life there as part of creating stability for his child.
The Palisades Fire was among several major blazes impacting the greater Los Angeles area at the time, forcing evacuations and damaging or destroying thousands of structures, according to coverage from Entertainment Weekly and other outlets tracking the disaster’s impact.
