Netflix is officially setting the stage for Joe Goldberg’s last act. A teaser for the fifth and final season of You frames the end as a full-circle return, with Joe (Penn Badgley) addressing the viewer directly and teasing a “farewell” after four seasons of escalating obsession and violence.
In the clip, Joe appears trapped behind plexiglass—an image that plays like a callback to the show’s most infamous symbol, the cage—while his voiceover invites the audience to “get to know each other better” before saying goodbye.
Entertainment Weekly noted the teaser also nods to Joe being “back to where it began,” signaling his return to New York City for the endgame.
Netflix and major outlets have confirmed Season 5 will release April 24, 2025, dropping all 10 episodes at once. Tudum’s season description positions Joe as trying to enjoy a version of “happily ever after” in New York—until the weight of his past (and his own impulses) threatens to ruin it.
Behind the scenes, the final season also marks a creative shift: longtime co-creator/showrunner Sera Gamble remains an executive producer, while Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo take over as showrunners for the final run.
With returning faces and new additions set to collide around Joe’s “final act,” the teaser’s message is simple: the story isn’t just ending—it’s coming back to collect.
