How to Watch Avengers Movies in Correct Order

Date:

Watching the Avengers movies in the right order makes the whole Marvel experience much more enjoyable. The Avengers films are the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing together heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, etc. These characters started in their own solo movies and eventually teamed up to face threats that are too big for any one hero to handle.

Across 4 major films, we see how this team forms, falls apart, and rises again to fight villains like Loki, Ultron, and Thanos. Each movie pushes the story forward and connects moments from earlier Marvel films.

However, with so many movies, timelines, and crossovers, it can get confusing to figure out the proper sequence. So, in this article we’ll break down the correct order to watch all the Avengers movies so you can follow the story from start to finish.

Avengers Movies in Correct Order (Release + Chronological)

  1. The Avengers

The Avengers, which came out in 2012, is very important to the Marvel universe, and the things that happen in it are mentioned again and again in later movies, even today. Directed by Joss Whedon, this is the 6th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie has a big cast which includes Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth as the Avengers. It also features Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and Stellan Skarsgård in important roles.

The story follows Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. as they recruit Tony Stark, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye to form a team that can stop Loki from taking over Earth.

2. Avengers: Age of Ultron

The second Avengers movie may not be the best on its own but it’s very important for setting up future Marvel movies. This is the film where Wanda and Vision are introduced which later connects to shows like WandaVision. Released in 2015, this is the 11th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The movie is about the Avengers coming together again to fight Ultron, a powerful AI that Tony Stark and Bruce Banner accidentally created while trying to protect the world. But Ultron turns evil and decides that the only way to achieve world peace is by wiping out humanity. The Avengers, along with new allies like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, must stop him even though the battle leads to the destruction of Sokovia.

3. Avengers: Infinity War

After Avengers: Age of Ultron, we have Avengers: Infinity War, which came out in 2018. Marvel had such a huge story to finish called The Infinity Saga that it couldn’t be told in just one movie. The first part of this ending is Infinity War, which brings together almost every Marvel hero and world seen so far. Written by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, it is the 19th film in the MCU.

In the movie, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy team up to stop Thanos, who is trying to collect all six Infinity Stones so he can wipe out half of all life in the universe.

Moreover, the movie has a huge cast, featuring stars like Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Dave Bautista, Letitia Wright, Josh Brolin, Chris Pratt, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Zoe Saldaña.

4. Avengers: Endgame

Finishing a long story is usually very difficult, but Avengers: Endgame gets it right. Even though it includes time travel, lots of flashbacks, and a huge number of characters, the movie still manages to end The Infinity Saga in an amazing way. It is the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is the direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War.

In the film, five years after Thanos wiped out half the universe, the world is still struggling to move on. Then Ant-Man comes back from the Quantum Realm with a new idea: time travel, which might help bring everyone back.

With his idea, Tony Stark and Hulk figure out how to time-travel. They, along with the remaining Avengers, go to different times in the past to collect the Infinity Stones before Thanos can get them.

When they return (without Black Widow, who dies during the mission), they use the stones to bring everyone back. But Thanos also returns, and all the Avengers must fight him in one final battle. Iron Man saves everyone by snapping his fingers with the stones but he dies in the process.
