Disney+ has officially ordered a third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians months before the second season even makes its streaming debut, a rare show of confidence for a series that has quickly become one of the platform’s biggest hits. The early renewal was announced in March 2025, nearly nine months ahead of Season 2’s December 2025 premiere.

This early renewal underscores how strongly the series resonated with audiences from the moment it first launched. Based on Rick Riordan’s beloved fantasy novels, the live-action adaptation arrived on Disney+ in December 2023 and quickly became one of the most watched originals on the service, ranking among the top five most-watched streaming shows across all platforms.
Season 2 — which will adapt the second book in Riordan’s series, The Sea of Monsters — is set to premiere on December 10, 2025, with two episodes releasing on launch day followed by weekly installments thereafter. The second season finds Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and their friends embarking on a perilous quest through mythical seas and facing new challenges as they attempt to save Camp Half-Blood.
Even before that story unfolds on screen, Disney+ greenlit Season 3, which will adapt the third book in the franchise, The Titan’s Curse — marking the first live-action adaptation of the novel. According to showrunner statements and production announcements, the upcoming third season promises to introduce fan-favorite characters such as the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo, expanding the series’ mythological world even further.
The decision to renew early also allows production to maintain momentum. Writers and crew can now plan more efficiently with two seasons on the horizon, minimizing the downtime that can slow serialized storytelling, especially with a young cast that will continue to grow over time.
In announcing the renewal, Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis praised the series’ broad appeal, saying the show “struck a chord with fans of all ages.” Riordan, who serves as an executive producer on the series, expressed gratitude to the creative team and the passionate global audience that has embraced Percy’s journey.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been celebrated for its faithful adaptation of Riordan’s source material, strong performances, and world-building, earning a string of accolades and a dedicated fan following. With Season 2 set to launch soon and Season 3 already in development, the demigod’s adventures at Disney+ show no signs of slowing down.
