Apple TV is sticking with Shrinking for another season.
On Tuesday, the streaming platform announced that the beloved hit comedy-drama series has been renewed for a fourth season. This news arrives just a day before Shrinking Season 3 premieres. The first episode streams on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, followed by new episodes every Wednesday (or maybe Tuesday evening) until April 8th, 2026.
After the Season 2 finale, creator Bill Lawrence said in an interview that Shrinking was never meant to end with Season 3. He explained that the story could continue as long as Apple TV wants to make more episodes: “If we’re lucky enough and Apple seems excited to keep making the show, we’ll come up with a new story.”
The third season continues right after the Season 2 finale, where Jimmy saves the life of Louis, the man who is responsible for his wife’s passing in a drunk driving accident. Season 3 also follows Paul as he begins the treatment for Parkinson’s disease, including a meeting with a new character played by Michael J. Fox, who has Parkinson’s in real life and has raised millions of dollars for research through his foundation.

According to its official description, the show “follows a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives … including his own.”
Jason Segel leads the cast once again, joined by returning stars Luke Tennie, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Christa Miller, Ted McGinley, and Lukita Maxwell.
Season 3 also brings back familiar guest stars like Brett Goldstein, Wendie Malick, Cobie Smulders, and Damon Wayans Jr., while new faces joining this season include Michael J. Fox, Jeff Daniels, Sherry Cola, Isabella Gomez, and Candice Bergen.
The show is executive produced by Randall Winston, Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein, Brian Gallivan, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Rachna Fruchbom, Ashley Nicole Black, Bill Posley, and Liza Katzer.
It is produced by Warner Bros. Television, with Goldstein and Lawrence working under overall deals alongside Lawrence’s Doozer Productions.
The show continues Apple TV’s strong working relationship with Bill Lawrence and Warner Bros. Television, after the success of shows like Bad Monkey and Ted Lasso. It is also another collaboration between Brett Goldstein and Apple TV after the film All of You.
Jason Segel has also worked with Apple TV on The Sky Is Everywhere and is all set to co-write, star, and produce the film Sponsor.
Shrinking has also earned strong award recognition. Its first two seasons received a total of 9 Emmy nominations, including a Best Comedy Series mention, along with acting nominations for Jessica Williams and Jason Segel. In 2025, Michael Urie and Harrison Ford also earned nominations for their great performances.
