The Legally Blonde prequel series Elle will premiere on Prime Video on July 1, 2026. Another piece of good news is that the streamer has renewed it for a second season. The filming of season two is planned to begin this spring.
Elle Cast
Elle was officially approved in May 2024. Reese Witherspoon, who starred in the two Legally Blonde movies in the early 2000s, is executive producer. Newcomer Lexi Minetree was cast as the lead (Elle) in February 2025. Other cast members include June Diane Raphael, Gabrielle Policano, Tom Everett Scott, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker and Jacob Moskovitz.

Season 1 follows Elle Woods’ high school journey, where viewers will get to see the experiences and moments that shape her into the Harvard Law School student from the films.

Created by Laura Kittrell, who is also a co-showrunner and executive producer with Caroline Dries, the series is executive produced by Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt and Amanda Brown, in addition to Reese Witherspoon. The first two episodes are directed by Jason Moore, who also serves as an executive producer.
Legally Blonde Franchise Overview
Released in 2001, the first Legally Blonde film was a box office success, earning over $140 million worldwide. In 2003, the sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde, was released. The third film was released direct-to-video in 2009; although Reese Witherspoon did not star in it, she served as a producer. In 2007, a stage musical based on the first movie premiered on Broadway, which received several Tony and Drama Desk nominations.
