Netflix’s hit period drama Bridgerton is ready to return with its highly anticipated fourth season, and this time, it will bring another chapter of romance, secrets, and high-society drama to screens. After following the love stories of Anthony, Daphne, and Colin in earlier seasons, the new chapter promises a romance that feels a little different.
With its rich costumes, emotional storytelling and lavish ballrooms, Bridgerton has become one of Netflix’s biggest shows, and excitement around the new season is already building. The release schedule has been confirmed and the official trailer is out, giving fans a clear glimpse of what’s coming next.
So, here’s everything we know about the upcoming season of Bridgerton.

When Will Bridgerton Season 4 Come Out?
Netflix has announced that Bridgerton Season 4 will roll out in two parts. The first set of episodes is scheduled to premiere next week, on January 29th, 2026, followed by Part 2 on February 26th, 2026. In total, Season 4 will consist of eight episodes.
What Will Bridgerton Season 4 Be About?
Season 4 of Bridgerton will shift the focus to Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the family’s second-oldest son, who has spent years watching love stories unfold around him and is finally ready for one of his own. His journey will begin at a grand masquerade ball, where he will be drawn to a mysterious woman dressed in silver. She will later be revealed as Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), a maid living a very different life below stairs.
As the season unfolds, Benedict will search for the woman he cannot forget, unaware that Sophie and the masked stranger are the same person. Their growing connection will bring a fresh perspective to the Bridgerton world, mixing romance with themes of class, belonging, and identity.
Some early pictures from the season suggest candlelit moments between Benedict and Sophie, quiet exchanges between Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury, and signs of change within the Bridgerton family. Speaking at the Season 4 Premiere Masquerade in Paris, Thompson said, “The whole bringing in of a character like Sophie, the downstairs element, just brings a whole new reality to the world of Bridgerton. I think every season is different, but I think this one really, the DNA slightly changes.”
He added, “I love that they want to settle down, and also because society has told them maybe they can’t — especially for Sophie. It makes it even more special that maybe they found themselves.”
Benedict’s emotional journey is another key part of the season. Speaking to Good Morning America, Thompson explained, “It’s funny, isn’t it? Because it was actually sort of like a life designed to avoid love, I think,” adding that Benedict’s past and his fear of loss make romance feel intimidating to him.
Sophie’s story, meanwhile, is shaped by the obstacles she faces, something Yerin Ha highlighted when she said, “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome. Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”
What Other Romances Will Season 4 Explore?
Bridgerton Season 4 doesn’t focus on just one love story. Francesca Bridgerton’s romantic life is also explored further. She is still adjusting to married life with her husband, John Stirling and at the same time, there are hints that her story could later involve a deep connection with John’s cousin, Michaela Stirling. Actress Hannah Dodd has said that she would be happy if this part of Francesca’s journey is explored more.
The season will also expand Violet Bridgerton’s story. She begins a romance with Lord Marcus Anderson, showing that love isn’t only for the young. Actress Ruth Gemmell shared that it was nice to see the show represent love at an older age, especially since many viewers relate to it.
Which Stars Will Join The Cast of Season 4?
Along with the main lead, Yerin Ha, Bridgerton Season 4 will introduce several new faces connected to Sophie’s story. Katie Leung, popular for Harry Potter, will join the cast as Lady Araminta Gun, Sophie’s stepmother.
According to Netflix Tudum, she will be a twice-married and twice-widowed woman who is deeply focused on her social status. Her two daughters, Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao) and Posi Li (Isabella Wei), will make their debut on the marriage mart this season.
Rosamund, the elder daughter, will be portrayed as beautiful, self-centered, and eager to win her mother’s approval, with her attention firmly set on Benedict. On the other hand, Posi will be shown as the younger sister who is kind and often overlooked within her own family.
Which Cast Members Are Coming Back This Season?
Several familiar faces will be returning to Bridgerton this season. The cast includes Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Bridgerton, and Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton. Fans will also see Jonathan Bailey back as Anthony Bridgerton, along with Hannah Dodd as Francesca Stirling, Victor Alli as John Stirling, Masali Baduza as Michaela Stirling, and Daniel Francis as Lord Marcus Anderson.
The season will also bring back Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton, Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Martins Imhangbe as Will Mondrich, Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown, and Lorraine Ashbourne as Mrs Varley, keeping several fan-favorite characters in the mix.
