Authorities reported that three women who had been to Mexico for shopping from Texas have been missing for two weeks. According to missing person flyers by the local commission to search persons in the Mexican state of Nuevo León, the women, Dora Alicia Cervantes Saenz, 53, Marina Perez Rios, 48, and Maritza Trinidad Perez Rios, 47, have been missing since February 25.
According to Peitas Police Chief Roel Bermea, two women are from the border town of Peitas in Texas, between the United States and Mexico. He informed the broadcaster that the three left on February 24 to visit a flea market in Montemorelos, a city in Nuevo León.
The Roses are sisters, and Saenz is friends with them, according to The Associated Press. According to Bermea, the spouse of one of the missing women notified the Peitas police, who then began an investigation into their disappearance. Although his investigator contacted the FBI “to see what they could do” after several days of no communication, the chief added.

“We did notify the FBI to let them know the females were considered missing,” Bermea told KRGV, adding that there is “not much we can do ourselves” in a missing people investigation in another nation. In a statement to KRGV, the FBI acknowledged that it is aware of the situation but said that “no information is being shared at this time.”
According to the Attorney General’s Office of Nuevo León, which oversees the investigation, the women are not American citizens but Mexican nationals living in the United States. Drones, all-terrain vehicles, and canines have been used in the search, according to the office, which said on Tuesday that search operations are being conducted daily.
The women’s relatives “think that the tragedy occurred there,” the office stated; therefore, investigators were trying to work with Tamaulipas authorities to intensify the search there. Four Americans from the United States were abducted on March 3, shortly after entering Matamoros, Mexico (in the Tamaulipas region, just south of Brownsville, Texas).

On March 7, two Americans were rescued, including one visiting the area for a cosmetic treatment, but two more were later discovered dead. Since then, aggravated kidnapping and murder charges have been brought against five accused Gulf Cartel members. This is the first time they are looking into a disappearance in another nation, Bermea told KRGV.
He told the broadcaster, “We’re simply worried. “As far as I can remember, we haven’t had any other incidents of something like this happening abroad.” According to the investigators, the woman drove a green Chevy Silverado in the mid-1990s.
