Scream 6 Release Date

Scream 6: What is the Expected Release Date for This Movie?

Get ready for one of the scariest movies of 2023. Scream 6 is coming after the success of Scream 5, which was a half-remake and half-sequel to Wes Craven’s darkly funny 1996 slasher classic. And now we have a brand new trailer that shows fans their first look at a welcome returnee in the bloody sequel.

Even though Sam (Melissa Barrera) and Tara (Jenna Ortega) moved to New York City, they soon got into trouble. The trailer shows a first look at a deadly run-in with Ghostface. The footage also shows Hayden Panettiere playing Kirby Reed for the first time since Scream 4 and Courteney Cox playing Gale Weathers again.

The new trailer shows that the two of them team up with the Carpenter sisters to fight the new Ghostface killer. The action looks pretty tense. Reed and Cox will probably be back, but one of the main characters won’t be in Scream 6.

Neve Campbell, who has played the main character Sidney Prescott in all five of the horror franchise’s previous movies, most recently in 2022’s Scream, will not be a part of the project because the studio’s offer did not impress her.

In June 2022, she said,

“I’m sorry, but I won’t be making the next Scream movie.”

She went on to say, As a woman, I’ve had to work very hard to prove my worth in my career, especially with Scream. I didn’t think the offer I was given was fair for what I had done for the franchise. Read on for all the information you need about Scream 6.

Scream 6 Release Date

The next Scream movie is set to come out on March 31, 2023. This means that the movie will come out just over 14 months after the last Scream, which came out in theatres on January 14, 2022. In February 2022, it was announced that a new Scream movie would be made.

At the time, Paramount and Spyglass said,

“We are incredibly grateful to the fans around the world who loved our film. “We can’t wait for audiences to see what Radio Silence [directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett], writers Jamie Vanderbilt and Guy Bussick, and Project X Entertainment have in store for our Woodsboro family.”

Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett added, “Working with such a wonderful and talented family of creators, and in the lineage that Wes [Craven] and Kevin [Williamson] so expertly built, has been the thrill of a lifetime, and we’re so excited to bring the next chapter in the Scream saga to life.”

Courteney Cox said she would be back for Scream 6 in March 2022, and she also said that filming would start in June 2022. She told Entertainment Online, “I got the script yesterday.” “I haven’t read it yet because I just got it. I can’t wait to read it, and I know that they’ll start filming in Canada in June. I don’t know if I should say something or not.”Let me tell you who did it,” she joked.

Scream 6 Cast

As mentioned above, Sam Carpenter (played by Melissa Barrera), Mindy Meeks-Martin (played by Jasmin Savoy Brown), Chad Meeks-Martin (played by Mason Gooding), and Tara Carpenter (played by Jenna Ortega), who all survived Scream 5, are all set to return in the next chapter and face the killer known as Ghostface (with Roger L. Jackson returning as the evil voice).

The Hollywood Reporter says that My Best Friend’s Wedding star Dermot Mulroney has joined the cast of Scream 6. Along with Mulroney and the four main characters from Scream 5, the slasher sequel will also star Hayden Panettiere, who played Kirby Reed in Scream 4 in 2011.

As was already said, Courteney Cox, who has been in Scream since the beginning, has also confirmed that she will be back as Gale Weathers. Neve Campbell, on the other hand, has said that she won’t be in the second movie because of a pay dispute.

I’m sorry to say that I won’t be making the next Scream movie. Campbell told Variety what he thought in a statement. “As a woman, I’ve had to work very hard to prove my worth in my career, especially with Scream. I didn’t think the offer I was given was fair for what I had done for the franchise.

She went on to say,

“It was very hard to decide to move on. I love all of you who like Scream. You have always been so kind and helpful to me. I will always be thankful to you and this franchise for what it has given me over the past 25 years.”

After Ghostface brutally killed his character Dewey Riley in Scream 5, things don’t look good for David Arquette, either, who was one of the main actors in the Scream movies. Riley wasn’t the only returning Scream character to die horribly in Scream 5. Judy Hicks, played by Marley Shelton, and her son Wes, played by Dylan Minnette, also died. Liv McKenzie, played by Sonia Ammar, Vince Schneider, played by Kyle Gallner, Richie Kirsch, played by Jack Quaid, and Amber Freeman, played by Mikey Madison, was also killed off.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are back as directors, and James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are back as writers. Gillett once told Empire about Scream 6:

“This movie has to be willing to risk everything in order to break all of those expectations.” “And we’ve seen so many Scream movies that anything could happen at this point.”

Scream 6 Plot

According to a short plot summary in The Hollywood Reporter, the movie “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro and begin a new chapter.”Even though most of the details are being kept secret, it seems likely that the next episode will follow confirmed cast members Ortega, Barrera, Gooding, and Brown as they try to leave Woodsboro and start over.

Since this is a sequel to Scream, their hopes for a peaceful life don’t look good. Cox has said in the past that the script for Scream 6 is “really good.” She told Entertainment Tonight, “I don’t know about contracts and where things are, but I’ll tell you about the script.”She also said, “If you talk about it, you have to be killed, so I’m not going to say anything.”

The Scream franchise is known for making meta-commentary on horror genre tropes, which often means going against what people expect. Gillett told Empire in the past that Scream 6 will have to go further down the meta-horror rabbit hole than ever before. He said, “This movie has to be willing to risk everything to go against all of those expectations. And we’ve seen so many Scream movies that anything could happen at this point.”

Is There a Trailer for Scream 6?

Yes, as mentioned above, a trailer for Scream 6 has arrived, giving fans a look at Hayden Panettiere and Courtney Cox, who are back for the sixth installment. Fans also get their first look at the new Ghostface killer, who is carrying a shotgun for the first time.
